about our Organization

The Lunenburg County SPCA is an organization of volunteers working to help mistreated animals. Our agents investigate reports of abuse or neglect of animals. We try to work with pet owners to teach them proper pet care and inform them of the laws pertaining to animal ownership.

Occasionally we have to remove an animal from its home. When this happens, it is taken to a vet for a check-up and whatever treatment it needs. After a visit to the vet it goes to a foster home where it will stay until a permanent home is found.

We keep our animals until a home is found no matter how long it takes. No animals are euthanized unless health or behaviour problems make it necessary.

Fundraisers are held through the year to help support the SPCA. Below are snapshots from the annual dogwash held in August at Little's Flower Shop in Bridgewater.

The winner of the Mother's Day Basket was Ken VanderSteen. Congratulations!

The winner of the SPCA Christmas basket was Terry Tufts - Daphney Tufts' cat!

Congratulations Terry, that's him pictured on right!

The winners of the Pet Baskets are Darlene Hurley for the cat basket and Oliver Little for the dog basket. Pictured below is Oliver with the goodies!
Foster Families received visits and goodies from twins Michaela and Virginia who celebrated their 8th birthday with an SPCA party - they asked friends to bring presents for foster dogs and cats!
